Why Design/Build

This is an excerpt from the San Diego Union Tribune published April 16,2016!  We would love for you to design/build your next home with us and this is why!

San Diego’s housing market is among the nation’s 10 hottest this year according to real estate leaders. With that distinction comes a shortage of new home inventory, and in order to get exactly what you are looking for you often have to design and build it yourself; a daunting process unless you have a trusted team leading the way.  Skilled at figuring out the complexities involved when buying land, building a home, and making it an exciting and enjoyable process for their clients, McCullough Design Development is at the top of the list of San Diego’s Premier Design-Build Firms.

Companies such as theirs must be well-versed in fields including land development, architectural design, and home construction. “Many people don’t realize how intricate every phase of development is and the due diligence involved, from civil engineering to picking out your drapes.  Each decision has a huge impact in how your home comes together,” informs Lori McCullough, lead sales and realtor for MDD.  San Diego experienced the nation’s largest drop of new home inventory in 2015.  Lack of ready-to-build-on land, lots with complexity, and extended permit timelines have deterred some from building in this area, however MDD has been able to navigate successfully through these challenges.

Being a local San Diego designer/builder for decades, they keep their finger on the pulse of available land and continually evaluate the best options for purchase. Invested in San Diego’s future housing market, they have several estate lots available for their design-build program including: a 1.79 acre lot in the Heritage Estates near the Maderas Golf Course, 1/3 acre on Meadows Del Mar near the Fairmont Grand Del Mar Resort, and 2/3 acre lot in Encinitas near their sold out community of Seascape.  They have more projects forthcoming in other fine areas of San Diego and also offer their design-build program for a client’s personal lot.

Ever cognizant of San Diego’s housing needs, they are also currently constructing homes available for presale ranging from 2,600 to over 5,000 sf.  Every quality home has a well-thought-out floorplan that is oriented for views and lot topography in premium areas, providing high market value now and for generations to come.  Filled with everything the market is looking for: efficient design, indoor/outdoor living, estate sized rooms, connected kitchen/family/dining rooms for optimum entertainment, attached guest houses, plenty of storage, and superior construction, McCullough’s homes don’t stay on the market for long.  Custom client Antje Presnell recently sold her home in Rancho Bernardo and explained that during the open house, “Many people commented, ‘If I was to build a house this is exactly what I’d do.’” With the MDD team’s guidance and immaculate attention to detail at through every step, “nothing was left out”.

McCullough has created an excellent team of project managers, accountants, superintendents, and specialists, each focused on their individual part and working in concert with each other to refine a complex system into orderly steps.  Just like an orchestra with many instruments, they all come together in harmony to make something stunningly beautiful.  “Since one company is involved from beginning to end, there is inherent efficiency, total accountability, and a genuine partnership between the design-build team and the clients.  Clients can ask questions, consider options and make informed decisions by turning to one highly adaptive design-build team,” explains Bryonny Van Camp, CFO of MDD.
